If you express your desire to practice and improve your Spanish with your hotel’s staff, they should be willing to help you practice your Spanish on a daily basis. If you’re lucky you may even get to learn some helpful new phrases, which you’ll be able to learn and use during your trip to Madrid.

2. Choose to visit local bars and eateries, where you’re likely to bump into locals

Another way to find locals to practice your Spanish with is to visit local bars and eateries, where you’ll be able to strike up conversations with friendly locals, who’ll more than happy to help you learn Spanish over tapas and a couple of beer or sangrias.

It’s a great idea to shop for groceries at an authentical market, where you’ll interact with multiple market vendors.

4. Download a Spanish app to study Spanish on the go

As an example, you’ll be able to practice Spanish, when you’re waiting in line to visit one of Madrid’s world-class museums or when you’re traveling from a to b or waiting for a taxi.

5. Participate in daily language classes

A smart way to perfect your Spanish, during our time in Madrid is to attend daily Spanish lessons with a reputable Spanish teacher. Luckily there are dozens of Spanish schools in Madrid, to choose from, so you shouldn’t have any issues finding a Spanish class near your chosen hotel.

As a bonus, you’ll be able to meet fellow travelers who are working on their Spanish, who you may choose to befriend and explore Madrid with. So if you like the idea of making new friends who you’ll be able to practice your Spanish with, it’s a great idea to look into signing up for daily Spanish lessons.

6. Limit your use of English

One of the fastest ways to become more proficient in a language such as Spanish while you’re traveling overseas is to limit your use of English. While you may be tempted to use English to order food or make purchases, your understanding of Spanish will increase faster if you use every opportunity to speak Spanish.

7. Listen to a local radio station while you’re in Madrid

It’s a great idea to listen to listen to a local radio station on your smartphone, in order to improve your Spanish. As a bonus, you’ll also get to find out about local events such as festivals and concerts, that you may be interested in attending.

8. Don’t be afraid to listen in to the conversations around you

It’s a useful task to try and understand conversations which are happening around you. As an example, if you’re at a local cafe, carefully listen to the locals around you ordering their food and drinks. As if you hear common phrases repeated multiple times, the information which you’ve learned should sink into your permanent memory.
