Guide to Richmond: The best dog-friendly pubs for you and your pooch

In the leafy London borough of Richmond, there are lots of dogs to get to know as you navigate the eponymous park. Due to the large population of canine companions, there are lots of dog-friendly establishments that welcome you and your pooch with open arms. So, with that in mind, here are some of the best places to head for drinks and treats with your pooch in tow in Richmond.

The Britannia

Hidden up a quaint lane on the approach to Richmond Green, the Britannia has an awesome beer garden that’s ideal for you and your pooch. As an independent gastropub, the Britannia serves up delicious food for you, and they always have a supply of dog treats behind the bar.

Lass O’ Richmond Hill

This country-style pub right next to Richmond Park is a popular haunt for dog walkers. Lass O’Richmond has an excellent reputation as one of the most dog-friendly establishments in the borough, and few things are indulgent as enjoying a delicious Sunday roast after a morning in the park with your canine companion.

The New Inn

Located right next to Ham Common, The New Inn is another great place to visit with the pooch after a lovely walk in the fresh air. The vibe is laid back and friendly, and you can expect a great selection of beers and a delicious menu for you and your pooch to choose from.

The Tap Tavern

The Tap Tavern in Richmond does an excellent job of stocking the bar with treats for humans and dogs alike! If you need something more than a snack, there’s a lot to like about the Tap Tavern menu, and you can choose from a decent selection of craft beers to wash your meal down.

The Marlborough

Let’s get something straight – you simply cannot beat a Sunday roast at The Marlborough in Richmond. It’s the perfect place for you and your pooch to refuel after a walk around Richmond Park, and you can chill out in the sizeable beer garden at the back of the pub.

The Hare and Hounds

As one of the oldest pubs in Richmond (it opened in 1776), the Hare and Hounds has one of the biggest beer gardens in the area and is often filled with dogs. There’s delicious food and lots of beer and wines to choose from, and your dogs will be spoiled with treats by the friendly staff.

The White Swan

Due to its location just outside of Richmond, the White Swan has an off-the-beaten-track feel and is surrounded by green spaces that are perfect for dog walking. Choose from a menu consisting of hearty British meals and tasty tipples for another great option for you and your pooch in Richmond.

The Old Ship

The Old Ship is one of the most cheerful and friendly pubs in Richmond, and it’s as welcoming to dogs as it is to humans. If you take some treats for your pup from the store behind the bar, you’re asked to leave a donation for the local dog rescue – a nice touch that adds to this pub’s dog-friendly credentials.

Stock up on healthy treats!

Now that you know about Richmond’s hottest dog-friendly pubs make sure you have some delicious and nutritious treats in your pocket as you take your pooch on a walk around this leafy London borough.
